Invitation by the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration
An inspection of Border Force activity at South Coast Seaports.
David Bolt, the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the efficiency and effectiveness of the immigration, asylum, nationality and customs functions carried out by the Home Office. The reports produced go to the Home Secretary and are published by being laid in parliament.
David has recently started an inspection of Border Force’s operations and activity along the south coast of England (focused on Falmouth to Dover) particularly looking at how it manages its response to existing threats in the general maritime sector.
Given the importance of Freight Forwarders in this area, he would be very interested in the views of BIFA members on Border Force activity within the south coast vicinity. More specifically, the inspection team would like to invite you to raise any issues that you believe would be of interest to this inspection, focusing on what is working well/what is not working so well.
If you feel that a telephone discussion with the team would be more beneficial, I would be happy to arrange this. Otherwise, I would be grateful for written contributions to be submitted by close of business on 14 March 2018 to Roland Potts, the Lead Inspector, email@example.com.
