EU Exit events for the chemicals and allied industries

BEIS¹ are hosting three free-of-charge events, together with HSE, Defra² and the Alliance of Chemical Associations³, in London, Leeds and Liverpool.

The purpose is to help chemicals businesses and downstream users of chemicals to understand the potential impacts of EU Exit on their business in key areas such as regulation, tariffs/rules of origin and customs/border processes.

This is an opportunity for you to ask questions of policy officials, advise Government on the impact of EU Exit on your business and help to shape the negotiation and policy positions that will support the sector.

Format of the day:

10:00 – Registration and refreshments

10:30 – Introduction

10:45 – Supply chains, tariffs and rules of origin (presentation by BEIS followed by facilitated group discussions)

12:00 – Customs and the border (presentation by BEIS followed by Q&A with government and industry panel)

13:00 – Lunch

13:45 – Regulations (presentation by HSE/Defra giving an overview for REACH, biocides, Plant Protection Products and Classification, Labelling and Packaging followed by Q&A with government and industry panel)

15:00 – General Q&A with a joint Government/industry panel

15:30-15:45 – Closing remarks and next steps

Target audience:

Anyone in the chemicals and allied sectors (including downstream users) who would like an overview of some key issues related to EU Exit.

Please note that further events which cover regulations in more detail are planned for the new year - these will be announced on the HSE website and by ebulletin when dates are confirmed.

Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  We would be grateful if attendance could be limited to one person per organisation so that as many businesses as possible can attend.
