HMRC Interim Chief Executive appointment confirmed
HMRC are pleased to confirm that their current Deputy Chief Executive Jim Harra has been confirmed as HMRC’s Interim Chief Executive with immediate effect.
Sir Jonathan Thompson officially left HMRC on Monday 30 September to take up his new role as Chief Executive of the Financial Reporting Council.
Jim will remain as Interim Chief Executive until a permanent appointment is made, and has also been appointed Interim Accounting Officer.
Brexit will remain a key priority for him in his new role, supporting customers’ preparation for UK’s departure from the EU, as well as continuing Sir Jonathan’s work to provide a high quality service for UK taxpayers.
Jim has been the Deputy Chief Executive and Second Permanent Secretary of HMRC since January 2018. He has worked in the department for the past 35 years.
