Head of Cargo announcement

Heathrow Airport Ltd (HAL) announces appointment of Tim Mayes as new Head of Cargo.

HAL is delighted to announce Tim Mayes as the new Head of Cargo. This is a key leadership role at Heathrow accountable for leading cargo transformation, marshalling a capital programme and engaging with a wide range of stakeholder groups, from government, airlines, the freight industry and their own operational teams. The appointment of Tim, one of their most capable leaders, along with further steps to strengthen the Heathrow cargo team, demonstrates the clear priority and commitment we assign Heathrow Cargo.

Over £100bn worth of goods move through Heathrow every year, representing two thirds of all UK air freight volumes. Capacity is set to double with expansion, demonstrating the importance of Heathrow’s cargo business to the UK economy. Tim’s leadership will add pace to their cargo transformation, delivering a safe, secure operation that is fit for growth. A new target operating model will work with the supply chain to remove waste and take steps to ensure that cargo can consolidate onto fewer vehicles and is continuously moving through the estate.

Simon Eastburn, Director, Airline Business Development & Cargo added,
“I’d like to thank Tim for the great job he has undertaken as Head of Airline Business Development, leading Heathrow’s account management of over 70 airlines, including Virgin Delta, SkyTeam and The Star Alliance group of airlines. Covering executive engagement, airline terminal occupancy and working with his airline customer accounts to drive growth; in 3 years, his airline customers have added 3 million more passengers per year.”

Before Heathrow, Tim held several senior domestic and international roles in Diageo Plc.

Tim will start in his new role on the 1st March and whilst there will be some transition from his old role, Tim will be reaching out to many of you to introduce himself in the near future. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me directly.
