Unite announce strike dates
To the Heathrow airport community.
As you may be aware, Heathrow Airport have been in discussions with the trade unions for the past six months over the impact of COVID-19 on their business.
Their trade union partner Unite has notified them of their intention to take industrial action at Heathrow on a number of days in December, with the first strike date on Tuesday 1 December.
This action will take place for 24 hours from 00:01 and will be followed by a further 24-hour period on Monday 14 December.
A further period of strike action is planned for 48 hours on Thursday 17 from 00:01.
This action will take place in Engineering, Fire Service, Campus Security, Airside Ops, Baggage Ops Landside Ops and Passenger Services Operations (Central Trolley Ops).
While this is disappointing news, the safety of colleagues, passengers and Team Heathrow partners is their top priority and Heathrow Airport have robust contingency plans in place in accordance with strict Department for Transport and Civil Aviation Authority requirements to ensure the airport remains open and operates safely.
Heathrow airport will provide further information over the coming days and are planning to hold a conference call this week where partners will have the opportunity to ask questions.
