Container surcharge survey
In the maritime industry there has been considerable criticism of the shipping lines for charging without justification a variety of surcharges.
On 8 August 2020 the British International Freight Association (BIFA) welcomed the recent announcements by some container shipping lines that they will discontinue low sulphur fuel surcharges.
In response to concerns raised by various national member associations, the global trade association for freight forwarders, FIATA, through the expertise of its Working Group Sea Transport, is currently conducting a global review of container surcharges.
The results of this review will enable FIATA to determine the unfair practices, if any, in each jurisdiction, for the purposes of understanding where it should focus its engagement on this crucial topic.
FIATA would therefore be grateful if BIFA Members could kindly take a few minutes to complete the following survey by Friday, 25 September 2020, which can be accessed at http://forms.fiata.com/view.php?id=24840.
The BIFA Secretariat would like to thank Members for their assistance regarding this matter
