Young Forwarder Network Event - Tuesday 7th December 2021
BIFA's latest event welcomed Clare Bottle, CEO of UK Warehousing Association and Vice-Chair of Women in Logistics UK
With a career spanning over 25 years Clare has carved out an impressive pathway in logistics, overcoming a number of professional and personal challenges along the way. She isn't the first member of her family to work in the industry either, as unbeknown to her initially her great-grandfather was a haulier over 100 years ago!
It was empowering to hear Clare's story and her ongoing passion for promoting logistics as an industry for everyone. When talking of co-founding Women in Logistics, a key takeaway for us was to encourage an inclusive workplace culture first in order to develop a more diverse workforce.
We also looked at how rapidly the warehousing sector has grown, particularly in the last 6 years, and the Government's predictions on the use of Robotics. There are lots of ways that we can adopt automation and Clare shared her thoughts on how automation and digitilisation can amplify the way we operate in the future.
Tuesday's session had a great turnout, with over 50 members of our industry taking time out of their day to attend.
We are grateful to Clare for being such a brilliant guest speaker and would also like to thank everyone who joined the session.
Our next session will be on Wednesday 15th December with Andrea Barrett - VP Social Responsibility & Sustainability at RS Components. This free event is open to all young forwarders so please register here if you would like to attend.
