Implementing Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) for Dangerous Goods
IATA Webinar: Tue, Sep 21, 2021 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM BST
The 62nd edition (2021) of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) adopted revised provisions for dangerous goods training to incorporate a competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) approach that will become mandatory for dangerous goods training from 1 January 2023.
IATA recognizes the challenges faced by many organizations to transform their current dangerous goods training program to the competency-based training and assessment framework while keeping up with the industry standards. To this end, included in the 63rd edition of the DGR is a revised Appendix H – Dangerous Goods Training Guidelines – Competency-Based Training and Assessment Approach that expands on the guidance included in appendix H in the 62nd edition.
This webinar will be dedicated to the development and implementation of a competency-based training and assessment program for dangerous goods. The topics for discussion will focus on the main aspects of the development, implementation and maintenance of a CBTA program looking at the available methodologies and practices.
During this one-hour webinar, you will be provided with:
- an overview of the regulatory framework, including the roles and responsibilities under a CBTA approach to dangerous goods training.
- an outline of CBTA concepts, principles, and benefits.
- an explanation of the components and phases for the development, implementation and maintenance of a CBTA program.
- a presentation of the IATA CBTA Center; a new certification program to support the industry in developing a competency-based dangerous goods training and assessment program.
