HMRC invites BIFA Members' participation in developing new online tariff related tools
BIFA has recently been contacted by HMRC inviting members to participate in user forums regarding an ongoing programme of enhancements for the Online Trade Tariff.
Over the last 18-months HMRC have delivered a wide range of changes, adding functionality across a variety of aspects, such as the Tariff Calculator and the relevant Rules of Origin Tabs.
This activity will be continuing, and HMRC will soon be embarking on developing additional functions to help users determine the:
- origin of their particular goods based on the product specific rules; and
- correct classification, through further understanding of the applicable rules and relevant notes.
In doing this the Department want to hear from users themselves, so they can gather ideas and tailor the products to best meet needs.
To which end, HMRC would like to invite expressions of interest both from trade associations and their members. When numbers and the level of interest is known some sessions are planned to bring groups together to share ideas, inform plans and trial the development of new systems .
If BIFA Members would like to be involved in this work, please advise Robert Windsor at r.windsor@bifa.org, who will forward your contact details to HMRC.
When responding please advise whether the interest is specific to
- Origin
- Classification
- or both.
