HMRC Announces Updates to the UK Trade Tariff and CHIEF
HMRC has announced the removal of the country code EU from the UK Trade Tariff and the Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system.
From Tuesday 8th February 2022 the country code ‘EU’ will no longer be valid in any data field, and the specific member state country code must be used in CHIEF.
Removal of the country code ‘EU’ on CDS and the Online Tariff Tool will take place later. However, it is advised to use the specific member state country code for the time being for submitting declarations using the Customs Declaration Service (CDS).
