EU Exit - Safety and Security ENS onboarding - HMRC presentation
Additional HMRC frontier processes to be introduced on the 1st July 2022
As part of its phased approach to introducing full frontier controls, HMRC confirm that on the 1st July it will be mandatory to submit a safety and security (ENS) declaration for all inbound movements from the EU. This is going to impact on the road freight sector.
HMRC’s presentation provides an overview of the regime (which is already in use for imports from the Rest of the World). In particular we draw the readers attention to slide 9 – which covers the question of “on-boarding”, in other words, BIFA Members and others can volunteer to use the new system prior to the implementation date.
