DfT Launch Road Freight Survey

As some of you might be aware, a road freight survey has been launched by the Department for Transport and National Highways to help inform future road scheme transport investment appraisal.

The Government Department and Agency are seeking input from road users and their customers.  As freight forwarders are significant users of roadfreight services, we would ask you to participate where possible and to respond where possible and pass this information on to your hauliers to respond so freight and logistics can be better reflected in road investment scheme appraisal.

Below is the wording of the announcement from the DfT on this matter:

An important road freight survey has been launched by the Department for Transport and National Highways to help inform future road scheme transport investment appraisal.

After COVID 19, the departure of the UK from the European Union, and changing consumer buying patterns there is an increased awareness of the important role that modern multi-modal logistics supply chains provide to the UK. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the critical role that the freight and logistics sector plays in connecting manufacturers, ports, warehouses, and consumers, is accurately reflected in road investment scheme appraisal.

Responses are warmly welcomed from all sizes of organisation, from the smallest to the largest, including Shippers, Carriers (Own Account and Third-Party Hauliers) and those in either the Public or Private Sector.

To participate in this crucial industry technical survey please don’t delay – and contact Freighvotr@Aecom.com for a link to the online survey by the 30th June 2022.
